Special Needs Teachers encourage children who have physical, hearing or visual impairments to develop self confidence, independence and to reach their potential. The children may also have emotional, behavioural or learning difficulties.
Special Needs Teachers will use special equipment and teaching methods, such as sign language or Braille. Teachers can either work in schools which cater to the children’s specific needs(visual or hearing impairment) or within mainstream schools giving classes on an individual or group basis.
To teach students with special educational needs you must first have a teacher training qualification. Only qualified teachers- normally with at least two year’s experience can teach children with special educational needs.
